Perhaps more than in any other area of litigation, in the field of class actions, Israeli courts and the Israeli bar have their eyes closely focused on developments in the United States. Therefore, in the mid-1990’s, when the first Israeli court certified a class action in the securities context, it was only natural that the Israeli financial press immediately turned to Eric Sherby (then the head of the international litigation department of a large Tel Aviv firm) for comment and analysis.
Over the past several years, Mr. Sherby has represented foreign clients in purported class actions involving product liability claims as well as claims of consumer fraud.
In December 2004, our firm successfully obtained a dismissal, at the pleadings stage, of a purported class action, alleging consumer fraud, which had been brought against an automobile manufacturer and its Israeli distributor.
